Position Summary
Assist the Director of Finance and Accounting in the Accounting Department operations, preparing forecasts, performing cost and variance analysis of patient account data, ensuring balance‑sheet accuracy, and providing assistance in long‑range planning and profitability assessments. Also involves budgets and cost‑report preparation and statistical analysis by departments and service lines.
Responsibilities- Promote the facility mission, vision, and values by effectively communicating them to others.
- Serve as a resource to Financial Analyst I & Financial Analyst II.
- Develop computer programs to assist with various cost projects and perform statistical analysis based on this data.
- Examine historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable information for financial decision‑making.
- Coordinate, prepare, and analytically review the hospital’s financial reports.
- Identify and enforce appropriate internal controls for the department, and provide mechanisms to monitor compliance.
- Analyze workload, set priorities, assign duties, oversee progress, and participate in professional financial duties within a major fiscal division.
- Prepare various financial and statistical reports for internal use and external agencies.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Assist in budget preparation.
- Assist in cost‑report preparation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- College degree in Business or a computer‑related field required.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural and bilingual issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
- Seven (7) years of experience in accounting.
- Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Reasoning ability, good independent judgment, and ability to work with frequent interruptions.
- Professional image and demeanor.
- Proficiency with personal computer and Microsoft Office.
- Ten‑key typing proficiency required.
- Thorough knowledge of corporate finance—including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, capital budgeting, profit and loss, time value of money, and pro forma statements.
- Knowledge of database modeling.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively in written and oral form to audiences with varying levels of understanding.
