We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's student body as an Assistant Professor of Translation and Interpreting beginning in the academic year. The department seeks an energetic candidate to develop and teach translation and interpreting courses in the Spanish/English pair at the graduate and undergraduate levels, both in traditional and online environments. The selected applicant will support the development of the Translation & Interpreting programs, advise students and serve on program and department committees as needed.
The successful applicant will be expected to develop a solid research agenda in any area within Translation Studies.

As assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Minimum Qualifications- 1) Ph.D. in Translation and Interpreting (or closely related field) from an accredited institution of higher education. ABDs may be considered, but a conferred doctorate by August 31, 2027, is required for appointment.
- 2) At least 18 graduate hours in Translation/Interpreting.
- 3) Demonstrated potential for a strong research and publication record, with at least 1 peer-reviewed, scholarly publication in the field.
- 3) Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
- 4) Ability to teach courses in a variety of translation and interpreting topics in the English Spanish pair.
Required Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish.
- 1) Ability to teach in traditional face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online environments.
- 2) Ability to teach a variety of translation courses, including but not limited to Translation Technology, Translation Theory, Legal Translation, and varying Interpreting courses.
- 3) Professional experience as a translator or interpreter.
