Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – PRN – Nights – Flex Nursing – 15809 Description

Under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse, the CNA assists with direct patient care and supports the patient environment. Responsibilities include direct care, nutrition, observation, documentation, transportation of patients and supplies, and general maintenance of the unit. The CNA collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care and supports the facility’s mission, vision, and values.

• Graduated from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Tech program
• Current CNA or Patient Care Tech certification required
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Current Texas CNA license required
• Ability to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Preferable hospital experience
• One (1) year continuous experience preferred

• Promote the facility mission, vision and values and communicate them effectively
• Follow departmental instructions and perform duties in accordance with established routines, policies, procedures, and state regulatory acts
• Adhere to Standard Precautions and OSHA guidelines, including specific precautions such as MRSA, contact, and respiratory isolation
• Maintain an organized, neat, and well‑stocked resident unit
• Document observations and care given accurately and timely using correct forms
• Assist with admissions, orient family members, and provide hospitality to resident families
• Maintain a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for every resident
• Participate in daily shift reports, plan and organize work assignments based on residents’ needs
• Support nursing staff calmly and efficiently during acute or emergency situations
• Perform bathing, dressing, grooming, and nail care for residents using appropriate methods
• Measure and report vital signs, weight, intake, and output
• Safely feed residents as ordered, follow prescribed feeding protocols, and record intake changes
• Assist with resident mobility, lift, transfer, and reposition while ensuring safety
• Apply adaptive devices and restraints as ordered and monitor residents closely per DHR policies and procedures
• Provide care to minimize the risk of skin breakdown; observe and report skin changes to nursing staff
• Comply with policies and procedures for resident lifts and transfers; seek assistance when needed
• Communicate any abnormal observations and report accidents promptly to the supervisor
• Cooperate with staff to ensure complete care and routine tasks, and bring patient care issues to the Charge Nurse’s attention
• Work two (2) shifts of 24 hours per week or four (4) shifts of 48 hours per pay period, one weekend per month (AM – Saturday & Sunday/PM – Friday & Saturday), and one major and one minor holiday plus two high‑need days per year
