Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – PRN, Days

Location:

Edinburg, TX. Position is a part‑time, PRN Certified Nursing Assistant role requiring direct patient care under supervision of an LPN or RN.

Overview

The CNA assists with direct patient care, nutrition, observation, documentation, transportation, and general maintenance of the patient environment. The role supports the healthcare team to provide safe, clean, and attractive conditions for patients.

Education & Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program
  • Current CNA or PCT certification
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Current Texas CNA license
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to communicate with nursing staff, administration, and physicians
  • Awareness of cultural and bilingual issues; sensitivity required
  • Preferred: hospital experience
  • Preferred: at least one year of continuous experience
Job Knowledge & Experience
  • Knowledge of age‑specific patient populations and cultural diversity
  • Ability to adjust or troubleshoot monitoring and computer equipment
  • Proficient organizational and computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
Responsibilities
  • Promote the facility mission, vision, and values and communicate them effectively
  • Adhere to departmental instructions and established policies, procedures, standards, and state regulatory acts
  • Follow Standard Precautions and OSHA guidelines, including MRSA, contact, and respiratory precautions
  • Maintain an organized, neat, well‑stocked resident unit
  • Document observations and care accurately and timely
  • Assist with admissions and orient family members to the unit
  • Provide bathing, grooming, nail care, and bed‑making for residents
  • Measure and report vital signs and weight; record intake and output
  • Assist with lifting, moving, transferring, and positioning residents safely
  • Feed residents as ordered, monitor intake, and report changes
  • Support nursing staff during acute or emergency situations
  • Apply adaptive devices and restraints as ordered and monitor residents closely
  • Cooperate with other staff to ensure complete resident care and to assist peers when appropriate
  • Keep residents safe, secure, and comfortable at all times
Schedule & Availability
  • Two (2) shifts (24 hours) per week or four (4) shifts (48 hours) per pay period
  • One weekend per month (AM Saturday & Sunday / PM Friday & Saturday)
  • Must work one major holiday, one minor holiday, and two high‑need days per year
Physical Requirements
  • Light/moderate lifting up to 20 lbs from floor to shoulder height
  • Standing, walking, kneeling, and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Can perform routine reaching, straight pulling, push, pull, and other functional movements
