Job Title

Nurse Technician – PRN – Surgical Services

Location

Edinburg, Texas

Summary

The Nurse Technician assists in delivering direct and indirect nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse, focusing on patient comfort, safety, and hygiene.

Responsibilities
  • Promote the facility mission and values
  • Assist with bathing, feeding, vital signs, oral care, turning, and positioning
  • Perform specified nursing procedures such as specimen collection, wound care, catheterization, suctioning, and bed linen changes after competency has been verified
  • Transport, position, and drape patients for exams
  • Assist with patient ambulation and minimize patient distress
  • Record vital signs, intake/output, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Provide encouragement, support, and comfort to patients and families
  • Apply Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment
  • Support new staff and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or GED
  • Enrollment in a two‑semester ADN or BSN program with transcripts submitted after each semester
  • Current student in good standing at an accredited nursing program
  • Completion of fundamental nursing courses (Med/Surg, Physical Assessment, Pharmacology, Fundamentals)
  • NCLEX‑RN exam taken within six months of graduation; failure to pass results in termination of employment as Nurse Technician
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability for at least 12 hours per pay period (bi‑weekly) with occasional evenings or weekends
  • English;
    Spanish preferred (bilingual)
  • Physical ability to lift, shift, and transfer patients, meeting OSHA Category III requirements

FLSA Non‑Exempt – Paid PRN hours
