POSITION SUMMARY:
The RN Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the twenty-four (24) hour clinical, operational, and administrative management of assigned Behavioral Health, Civil, and Forensic Nursing units. This position provides leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered, and trauma-informed care while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, and continuous performance improvement while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
The RN Clinical Supervisor demonstrates advanced knowledge of psychiatric, behavioral, cognitive, emotional, developmental, and substance use disorders and provides clinical leadership in crisis intervention, risk assessment, de-escalation, and behavioral health emergency management. The position collaborates closely with physicians, psychiatrists, nursing leadership, and the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure coordinated, evidence-based care. This role participates in the clinical assessment and admission screening of patients referred for behavioral health services to determine appropriate level of care, verify that clinical and legal admission criteria are met, and facilitate timely access to treatment.
The RN Clinical Supervisor maintains effective communication with the Clinical Director and other organizational leaders to support strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and exceptional patient outcomes.
POSITION EDUCATION/
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general educational development (GED) certificate required.
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current/Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or compact state licensure required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter
- Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) competency training completed prior to completion of orientation and annually thereafter.
- Demonstrated proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other computer applications required to support clinical documentation and patient care to be effective on assigned units.
- Demonstrates cultural competence and the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Successfully completes all required orientation, competency validation, and annual competency assessment associated with the position·
- English Proficiency- verbal, reading, and writing required.
- Spanish Proficiency- verbal, reading, and writing preferred.
- JOB KNOWLEDGE/
EXPERIENCE: - Minimum of two (2) years of frontline nursing leadership or management experience and three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required; behavioral health leadership experience preferred.
- Adherence to Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Comprehensive knowledge of behavioral health, psychiatric, civil, and forensic nursing practices, including crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented care.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and professional practice requirements governing behavioral health services.
- Demonstrated understanding of nursing operations, patient care delivery, staffing, quality improvement, risk management, and performance improvement processes.
