Overview
Staff Nurse – Registered Nurse (RN) providing direct, patient‑centered nursing care to an assigned patient population within Driscoll Health System.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments to establish a complete patient picture.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses, problems, and issues; verify accuracy with patients and interprofessional colleagues.
- Collaborate with the patient, family, and healthcare team to define expected outcomes and develop an individualized, evidence‑based plan of care.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions, administer medications and therapeutic treatments, and monitor patient responses to care.
- Recognize abnormal responses, intervene appropriately, and initiate corrective therapy or escalation as needed.
- Coordinate referrals and follow‑up appointments; act as a liaison between specialties to support continuity of care.
- Provide health education, promote disease prevention, and assess barriers to learning; use technology to enhance patient understanding.
- Document patient care and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interprofessional team to ensure seamless transitions.
- Lead by example, mentor new nurses, and participate in unit activities, shared governance, and decision‑making.
- Engage in quality improvement activities: identify trends in patient outcomes, contribute to practice change, and support evidence‑based care.
- Maintain equipment and safety standards; integrate connected health technologies to promote positive interactions.
- BSN preferred; current RN license in the State of Texas.
- CPR/AHA Basic Life Support continuously maintained.
- Advanced Specialty Courses (ASC) completed within the specified time frames and maintained continuously.
- National certification in specialty attempted within 4 years of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Orientation to travel to satellite outpatient clinics and patient sites as required for continuity of care.
- Flexibility to work alternating shifts, nights, weekends, and on‑call periods to support unit and system staffing needs.
