Job Summary

As a Retail Management Trainee at H‑E‑B, you'll experience department‑specific on‑the‑job training, leadership development, and training to hone your financial and management skills.

• Receive training via department‑specific on‑the‑job training (OJT) and receive additional training in leadership development, financial skills, and management skills.
• Work in tandem with the Department Manager and other Store Partners to apply training and skills; the goal of training is to learn the following Department Manager tasks:
• Sales:
  • Achieve the Store's financial objectives.
  • Manage a large product assortment and grow sales volume.
  • Meet expectations in terms of service, in‑stock conditions, and product offerings.
  • Develop and execute in‑store merchandising plans for everyday and seasonal items.
  • Execute corporate merchandising programs and ensure plan‑o‑gram integrity.
  • Plan and organize short‑ and long‑term activities within the department.
• Management:
  • Train, coach, and develop fellow Partners.
  • Ensure department staffing through effective scheduling.
  • Comply with federal, state, and H‑E‑B regulations and policies, and department SOPs.
  • Minimize shrink through inventory control and loss‑prevention activities.

• Current rating of "Meets Expectations".
• Current rating of "Exceeds Expectations".
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Completion of prerequisite courses and readiness checklist prior to application.
