Job Summary (Primary Purpose)

As a Maintenance Specialist, you will work independently and collaboratively within a team to perform facility maintenance functions. The role involves ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds, and maintaining a high standard of service. The ideal candidate will serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public.

The candidate will assist in the completion of the daily or weekly work activities as prescribed by the employer to ensure a program of maintenance that promotes the comfort, health, and safety of clients and staff.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; or relevant work experience
  • Texas driver's license and insurability required
  • Motor vehicle records clearance required
  • Good employment history in construction and/or building maintenance
  • Experience working independently and following directions
  • Experience in self-directed work
  • Experience with deliveries and handling materials
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills
  • Efficiency in paperless work order system (tablet or cell phone)
  • Ability to operate copy equipment
  • Ability to handle maintenance supplies in accordance with standard procedures
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major

Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
  • Inspect buildings and grounds for needed repairs, ensuring timely maintenance
  • Correct unsafe conditions and report uncorrectable conditions to the supervisor
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies, and repair parts
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of classrooms and meeting rooms
  • Complete daily work orders
  • Detect and report major repairs on building structures and systems
  • Proficient with painting, plaster and wall repair.
  • Install, move, assemble, and repair furniture and equipment as needed
  • Assist with major systems such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical
  • Install ceiling and floor materials
  • Follow safety procedures, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Drive company vehicle for pick-ups and deliveries
  • Maintain a list of maintenance and custodial supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
