Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the servicing, repair, and ongoing upkeep of building and physical assets, ensuring that they meet legal requirements and health and safety standards. The position identifies when outside contractors are needed for work beyond the technician’s expertise and collaborates with the Maintenance or General Manager to determine the best course of action.
Responsibilities- Inspect, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on building, electrical, and mechanical equipment; identify damage and resolve safety risks
- Respond to maintenance calls, troubleshoot, and complete work orders in a timely manner
- Record equipment and preventative maintenance tasks and work orders
- Maintain inventory of materials, supplies, tools, and spare parts, report usage, and suggest re‑orders to authorized personnel
- Coordinate with members of the Food Safety department to ensure proper record keeping and compliance with Food Safety processes and procedures
- Follow the preventative maintenance and end‑of‑life replacement plan for building and equipment assets
- Support scheduling of equipment and service contractors for outsourced maintenance and maintain records of services performed, supporting invoicing verification and processing
- Assist in equipment development, maintenance, and repairs
- Adhere to industry standards and waste disposal procedures set forth by regulatory agencies
- Other core expectations as defined by the company
Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; on‑call and holiday availability is required, as is the ability and willingness to travel.
This role operates across multiple locations and environments, ranging from a refrigerated warehouse with temperatures between forty‑five and fifty‑five degrees °F, to a greenhouse operation with temperatures of eighty–ninety degrees °F. The noise level can be loud due to packaging machinery and forklift truck operation.
The position occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities are required; the employee will work in front of a computer for prolonged periods while sitting or standing.
The role frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and arms. The position frequently involves lifting up to 30 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
