Support Playworker – Holiday Hub (Edinburgh, School Holidays 2026)

Salary: £12.60 per hour
Contract type: Full‑time (partial‑time available for limited visa holders)
We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals to support children and young people aged 5–18 with support needs and learning disabilities during school holidays. The role is seasonal, covering all school holidays in 2026, and involves both play scheme and leisure schemes.
Responsibilities- Arrive on time, organize groups, and welcome children and volunteers.
- Support children with meals, toileting, and activity participation.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment, following good practice guidelines.
- Assist with cleaning and tidying after activities and support day‑to‑day operations.
- Respect confidentiality and report any incidents to the play scheme manager.
- Communicate with parents, volunteers and the manager about daily events and concerns.
- Assist in training volunteers and participate in end‑of‑day meetings.
- Provide support on outings/trips, completing risk assessments and checklists.
- Work flexibly within the 08:30–16:00 hours typical of play schemes; hours to be agreed with the Play scheme Manager.
- Other duties as required to support the holiday hub.
- Be at least 16 years old and currently a resident of the UK.
- Have, or be prepared to obtain, PVG Scheme membership before employment.
- Possess valid full or provisional category B driving licence with access to transport as needed.
- Pass a Criminal Convictions Certificate (or equivalent) for applicants who have lived outside the UK for more than 12 months within the last 10 years.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous professionalism, self‑development, empowerment, and partnership working.
- Show ability to develop trusting relationships and make informed decisions.
- Match the availability required for the dates and times listed below.
- Experience working with children and young people with special needs.
- Experience in holiday or leisure programs.
- Feb half‑term: 16–19 Feb
- Easter (first half-term): 6–9 Apr, (second half-term): 13–16 Apr
- Summer: 29 Jun – 6 Aug
- Oct half‑term: 12–15 Oct
