Education and Children's Service's – Residential Care Officer – Drylaw House
Salary: £33,287 - £39,129
Hours:
36 per week. Part time hours may be available over a combination of Early, Late shifts and Night shifts, subject to working time payments and unsociable hour allowances.
We are seeking child centred, resilient and motivated individuals to positively role model and work using a trauma informed approach to make a difference in the lives of our young people. You will be part of a dedicated staff team who share the vision to improve the lives of our young people.
Drylaw House aims to provide positive and safe experiences for all young people through nurturing care, respect, connection and wrap around education that is individualised and promotes young people’s mental and emotional well-being. This role supports, cares for and upholds the rights of children and young people and reflects the ethos of Drylaw.
Responsibilities- Support young people to grow and flourish and engage them to reach their full potential.
- Work using a trauma informed approach and model positive behaviours to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people.
- Promote children’s rights and advocate on behalf of children and young people.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues; be reliable, adaptable and focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
- Participate in a team that delivers relationship-based practice and contributes to Edinburgh’s Promise.
- SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent in Childcare/Social Care or related area, or other relevant qualification at SCQF Level 7 or above.
- Must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of employment under the relevant category.
- Post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
- Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outwith the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required and must be provided. An unconditional offer is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
- There are day shifts and night shifts; weekends and public holidays may be required on a rotational basis.
