Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Electrician role based in Edinburgh. The Electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components on construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring all work complies with safety standards and regulations. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting electrical drawings, wiring and cabling, fitting fixtures and distribution boards, and performing routine inspections and testing. The role involves diagnosing faults, troubleshooting electrical issues, and completing corrective repairs to minimize downtime on site.
The Electrician will also keep accurate records of work performed, coordinate with site managers and other trades, and maintain tools and equipment in safe working order.
- Strong practical skills in Electricity and Electrical Work, with experience installing and commissioning electrical systems on construction sites.
- Proficiency in Maintenance & Repair and Troubleshooting, including diagnosing faults, performing corrective actions, and conducting routine inspections and testing.
- Knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles as they apply to building services, including understanding of load calculations, circuits, and safety devices.
- Relevant electrical qualifications or certifications (e.g., recognized apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent), and up-to-date knowledge of applicable electrical codes and regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, including safe isolation practices, use of PPE, and adherence to site procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, and to work accurately with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with site managers, contractors, and other trades.
- Valid right to work in the UK; a full driving license is beneficial for travel between sites.
