Field Service Engineer – Heavy Plant & Construction Equipment Territory:
Central Belt, Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh & surrounding areas)
An industry-leading international supplier of heavy machinery and equipment is looking to recruit an experienced field service engineer to join its expanding service team. Operating across the construction, material handling, recycling and transport sectors, the company has built a strong reputation for supplying premium equipment backed by first‑class aftersales support throughout the UK and internationally.
This is a field‑based position covering the Central Belt of Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant and associated equipment, ensuring customers receive a professional, efficient and reliable service.
Working Hours- Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Overtime is available and paid at enhanced rates, including time and a half and double time where applicable.
Key Responsibilities- Service, maintain and repair heavy construction plant and associated equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical expertise.
- Carry out planned servicing, preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
- Identify additional service and repair opportunities while on customer sites.
- Complete electronic job reports, service documentation and timesheets accurately and in real time.
- Install software updates and support equipment optimisation where required.
- Order and manage parts required to complete repairs efficiently.
- Provide customers with technical advice while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Attend manufacturer product training and technical development courses.
- Participate in overtime and call‑out rotas as required.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV or a related engineering discipline (Essential).
- Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy plant, construction or agricultural machinery.
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills across diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and transmissions.
- Experience using modern diagnostic equipment and computer‑based service tools.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work independently and manage a busy workload effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Competitive salary of £40,000 – £42,000.
