Location: City of Edinburgh

Job Title: Maintenance Electrician – Retail Shopping Centre

Location: Central Edinburgh

Base Salary: £45,000.00 per annum + Call out + overtime

OTE: £52,000.00+ per annum

Overtime: Monday to Saturday AM
- Paid at 1.5x Hourly Rate | Overtime Saturday PM/ Sunday
- Paid at 2x Hourly Rate

Potential overtime: 5-20 hours per month (not guaranteed)

Benefits: Company pension scheme, 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)

Hours: 40 hours a week – Monday to Friday

On call / Standby: 1 week in every 5

Job Purpose

This key position carries out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a large shopping centre in Central Edinburgh. The role involves technical repairs and minor PPMs, as well as reactive works to keep the centre running. You will ensure all technical and compliance paperwork is always completed and up to date. All work will be completed to the highest standards in an efficient and cost‑effective manner while complying with the company Health and Safety policy.

Accountabilities
  • Complete the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedule within agreed timescales and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Conduct emergency lighting tests and repairs.
  • Fault finding, electrical maintenance works.
  • Identify non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the line manager of findings.
  • Ensure compliance documentation is always completed and up to date.
  • Advise the on‑site customer (manager) of any repair and maintenance issues that may affect the smooth running of the site.
  • Carry out surveys and complete reports as required.
  • Always comply with company Health and Safety policy.
  • Participate in the 24/7 call‑out rota (1 week in every
    5).
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • City and Guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • AM2 or approved electrician status.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2018).
  • 2391 beneficial.
  • 3‑phase electrics and its applications.
  • Award achievement of PPM schedule within agreed timescales.
  • Respond to service call requests within agreed timescales.
  • Preference for candidates with own vehicle; free parking is available.
