The roleRole overview
We are seeking a dedicated Property Maintenance Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various property facilities, ensuring safety, functionality, and aesthetic standards are upheld. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in maintenance, electrical, and mechanical work, as well as supervisory experience. The ideal applicant will possess excellent organisational skills, customer service abilities, and leadership qualities to oversee maintenance tasks effectively.
Whatyou'll doKey responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
- Repair and service electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to diagnose issues accurately
- Perform welding and mechanical repairs as required to maintain property infrastructure
- Oversee and supervise maintenance projects, ensuring timely completion within safety standards
- Manage electrical installations and troubleshooting to minimise downtime
- Coordinate with contractors or external service providers for specialised repairs or upgrades
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing tenant or client concerns promptly and professionally
- Lead a team of maintenance staff or apprentices when necessary, demonstrating leadership qualities
- Proven experience in property maintenance or a related field with a strong understanding of electrical systems, mechanical repairs, and schematics
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical wiring practices
- Skilled in welding techniques and mechanical repairs
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Customer service orientation with the ability to handle tenant or client interactions professionally
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in electrical work, plumbing, or general maintenance are advantageous
- Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom
