Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Heating Engineer (Gas & Renewables) role based in Edinburgh. The Heating Engineer will install, commission, and maintain gas boilers, heating systems, and renewable technologies such as heat pumps and solar thermal systems. Daily responsibilities include carrying out fault-finding, performing routine servicing, completing safety checks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. The role involves visiting client sites, preparing job reports, liaising clearly with customers, and working collaboratively with other engineers and trades.
The Heating Engineer will also support project planning, provide technical input on system design, and promote energy-efficient and sustainable heating solutions.
- Strong technical skills in heating system installation, maintenance, and repair, including experience with gas boilers and renewable technologies.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices for gas and renewable heating systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer documentation.
- Effective problem-solving skills, with experience in diagnostic work and fault-finding on complex systems.
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
- Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships in heating, plumbing, or mechanical services; recognized gas qualifications (e.g., Gas Safe registration or equivalent) are highly beneficial.
- Experience working on-site in domestic or commercial environments, adhering to health and safety procedures.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel locally as required for site work.
