Velta Construction is seeking experienced Water Main Layers to join our growing utilities division. Working on water infrastructure projects across South Wales, the Cotswolds, and Reading, you will play a key role in the installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of clean water networks.
Working as part of a dedicated delivery team, you will help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Installation and replacement of water mains and associated pipework.
- Service connections and diversions.
- Excavation, pipe laying, jointing, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Reading and interpreting utility drawings and site plans.
- Working safely within live utility environments.
- Assisting with reinstatement and site restoration works.
- Carrying out daily plant, equipment, and tool inspections.
- Supporting the delivery of projects in line with client specifications and programme requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
- Participating in toolbox talks, briefings, and training activities.
Essential Qualifications
- CSCS Card
- SHEA Water
- National Water Hygiene Card
- Abrasive Wheels
- First Aid
- EUSR Categories 1 & 2
- Streetworks (NRSWA)
Desirable Qualifications
- NCO Water Mains & Services
- Excavator (Below and/or Above 10T) – CPCS or NPORS
- Forward Tipping Dumper – CPCS or NPORS
- Confined Spaces
- Temporary Works Awareness
- Previous experience working on water mains replacement and rehabilitation projects.
- Knowledge of water industry specifications and standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours and locations.
