Our client, a successful financial technology and services company serving family offices, registered investment advisors, private trust companies, and other financial institutions, is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its Partnership Accounting team.
The Fund Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned funds, including cash reconciliations, journal entries, capital activity, partnership accounting, and monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional with financial services or public accounting experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment and takes pride in accuracy, problem-solving, and producing high-quality financial information.
Responsibilities Fund Accounting and Period-End Close- Perform day-to-day accounting activities for assigned investment funds and partnerships.
- Review daily cash reconciliation reports and research and resolve reconciling items.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for assigned funds.
- Prepare and enter month-end accruals and other journal entries as required.
- Verify that partner and partnership accounts are properly balanced.
- Reconcile Trial Balance market values to Partnership Closing and Holdings reports.
- Verify that income reported on the Trial Balance agrees with Partnership Closing reports.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and closing documentation.
- Complete required closing checklists and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
- Process capital calls for outside investments and obtain required approvals.
- Process distributions from outside investments and properly classify distribution activity based on supporting notices.
- Process partner capital calls and distributions for assigned funds.
- Process investment trades when required.
- Maintain and update commitment schedules, including recallable distributions.
- Coordinate capital call and distribution activity with internal trading and operations teams.
- Assist with partnership accounting and related reporting requirements.
- Complete required tax work papers for applicable client funds.
- Review and maintain K-1 parameter information.
- Calculate qualified and non-qualified dividends and enter information into appropriate K-1 reporting categories.
- For applicable aggregate funds, calculate long-term capital gains and losses for the closing period.
- Complete tax diagnostic reviews and research or resolve identified exceptions.
- Prepare GAAP financial statements for audit purposes.
- Provide supporting documentation for annual financial statement audits.
- Respond to audit requests related to assigned funds.
- Maintain accurate electronic records of Trial Balances, Partnership Closing reports, Holdings reports, and other period-end documentation.
- Enter opening-day closes for funds with capital movements occurring on the first business day of the month to ensure accurate market values.
- Work closely with internal accounting, operations, trading, tax, and client service teams.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as business needs require.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of financial services industry experience or public accounting experience supporting financial services clients.
- Strong accounting and financial analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
