Overview

Veeco recently secured over $250 million in orders for its Spector Ion Beam Deposition systems, which deposit ultra‑precise optical coatings essential for indium phosphide lasers in next‑generation AI data centers. Deliveries start this year and ramp hard into 2027, requiring processes that scale at the same pace. As Senior Operations Program Manager, you will own the end‑to‑end execution of this production ramp, coordinating engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply‑chain teams to deliver the systems on schedule, on budget, and at the required quality levels.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the full production ramp for Spector IBD and Lumina MOCVD systems—own the integrated program plan covering schedule, cost, quality, and risk across the ramp portfolio.
  • Build and maintain a risk‑management framework that identifies schedule, supply, quality, and design risks early, assigns owners, and tracks mitigation actions.
  • Establish early‑stage testing and assembly sequences ("shift‑left" strategies) that move component validation upstream, shortening cycle time and feeding verified assemblies into the line.
  • Align engineering, supply‑chain, and supplier‑quality teams to guarantee incoming components meet specs, proactively addressing obsolescence, design changes, or deviations.
  • Own the financial performance of the ramp—including gross‑margin tracking, capex planning, and cost control, presenting status and recommendations to exec leadership.
  • Coordinate ramp readiness requirements with production managers and contract‑manufacturing partners: cleanroom capacity, utilities, tooling, staffing, training, and SOPs.
  • Serve as the single accountability point for ramp execution, delivering updates to exec management and traveling to partner sites (≈30 % of the time) to resolve issues onsite.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline. Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) is a plus. 12+ years managing complex, cross‑functional programs in semiconductor equipment, aerospace, defense, or comparable high‑precision manufacturing environments. Proficiency with an ERP system such as SAP for production planning, materials management, or order tracking.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep familiarity with lean manufacturing principles—takt time, value‑stream mapping, line balancing, flow optimization—applied to complex electromechanical builds.
  • Experience managing programs that integrate engineering, quality, supply‑chain, production, field service, and finance.
  • Track record of proactively managing operational risk across design, supply‑chain, and quality dimensions.
  • Skilled at translating complex program data (schedules, cost forecasts, risk registers) into clear exec‑level summaries for decision making.
  • Experience planning and executing production ramps for large‑scale capital equipment or systems with mechanical, electrical, vacuum, and software subsystems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable collaborating across organizational boundaries, building trust with engineering leaders and partners.
  • Ability to navigate shifting priorities across concurrent programs without losing focus on critical paths.
Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range is $156,000‑$200,000, plus bonus opportunity. Compensation considers location, experience, and other job‑related factors.

Other benefits include:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
