PositionStrategic Sourcing / Contract Specialist is responsible for identifying and securing strategic cost savings through effective analytical skills, sourcing and contract negotiations for the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. Handles the RFP (Request for Proposal) process and protocols within the organization for business owners to provide significant cost savings across the HMH network. Completes an analysis of purchased supplies and services within a multi-facility procurement environment.
Responsibilities- Identify and present comprehensive savings analysis through contract negotiations utilizing current GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) or direct negotiations with a manufacturer/supplier.
- Provide education and support along with the development of RFP with key individuals and/or departments. Assist key individuals and/or departments with selection of manufacturer/supplier regarding final contract/price negotiations through execution of RFP.
- Source and negotiate core products through analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills with multiple manufacturer/suppliers.
- Proactive in finding alternative manufacturer/suppliers quickly during pending threat/unforeseen crisis.
- Identify, solicit, facilitate, and secure manufacturer/suppliers domestically and globally across a wide range of categories to meet or exceed all supply chain initiatives.
- Meet with manufacturer/supplier sales representatives to learn about new products and services, including quarterly business reviews.
- Communicate new savings opportunities via Value Analysis team, as well as HMH organization.
- Work collaboratively with key individuals and/or departments to identify and initiate value driven products, projects, and services for cost savings opportunities per department or across entire organization.
- Ensure pricing integrity and accuracy by working with Pricing and Data Integrity team to ensure all current pricing is maintained in our ERP system.
- Work with Legal team to ensure fully executed contracts are uploaded and maintained in our contract management system.
- Responsible for maintaining additions, renewals, deletions, updates, and price changes within contracts for HMH systems.
- Assist buying team in resolving price discrepancies.
- Assist in identifying substitute products related to recalls, alerts and FDA bulletins, backorders and product shortages.
- Work with legal counsel to ensure all details for procurement are outlined and achieved during negotiations.
- Meet weekly with management and team members to review daily workload status, projects, improvements of workflow, provide coaching and mentoring within team and department.
- Track all cost saving initiatives (monthly, quarterly, and yearly).
- Utilize Google platform to analyze data and review categories by manufacturer/supplier, category, and subcategories.
- Procurement liaison to all departments regarding manufacturer/supplier contracts, products, and services.
- Understand the importance of HMH branding for all products and services.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- A Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Travel within HMH network as needed/required.
- Project management skills.
- Highly organized, ability to multitask, good time management skills for aggressive deadlines.
- Ability to adjust workload efforts based on new priorities assigned by management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Google.
- Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) Certification at hire or obtained within 12 months of hire.
