Location& Travel
Based in New Jersey; travel to North Carolina every six weeks (additional travel as required to project sites).
Responsibilities- Oversee the company’s Safety Program and ensure projects are in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and all other federal, state, and local safety laws and standards.
- Continuously review and update safety policies and practices based on new regulations, industry best practices, technological advances, and lessons learned.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of safety professionals, ensuring consistency, accountability, and professional growth across the safety department.
- Analyze trends, perform research and implement tools, systems, and technologies that enhance, automate, and improve safety management processes.
- Organize, manage, and deliver safety training for employees at all levels, including hazard recognition, equipment safety, traffic control, excavation safety, and emergency response.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience in heavy‑civil construction (road, bridge, and utility work required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT standards, environmental compliance, and civil construction safety requirements.
- Professional safety certifications (CSP, CHST, OHST, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing safety teams and programs across multiple sites.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in safety management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel to company projects and offices, including routine travel to North Carolina every six weeks.
