Occupational Health & Safety, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Our client is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to provide on-site safety oversight for utility construction and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, reviewing contractor safety documentation, conducting field observations, and partnering with project teams to maintain safe work environments.
- Provide safety oversight for construction and utility projects.
- Conduct job site observations and identify potential safety hazards.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA, federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
- Review and evaluate contractor Health & Safety Plans (HASP), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and crane lift plans.
- Verify contractors maintain required safety documentation before work begins.
- Attend daily tailboard meetings and reinforce safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents, participate in root cause analysis, and help implement corrective actions.
- Track safety observations, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Build strong working relationships with project managers, contractors, and field personnel.
- Exercise Stop Work authority whenever unsafe conditions exist.
- Maintain accurate safety records and reports.
- Bachelor Degree in Safety, Environmental and/or Emergency Management technical area or equivalent electric and/or gas utility construction experience
- Experience reviewing Health & Safety Plans (HASP) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with project teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle required.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
- CHST, CUSP, or other professional safety certifications are preferred.

Pay Range: $52.00 - $57.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
