10 is currently seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator for an onsite contract position with a Major Utility Company located in Edison, NJ. This is a long-term contract opportunity.
This role is responsible for providing safety oversight on various construction and modification projects. The coordinator will work to drive positive safety performance by ensuring all personnel conduct work in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company requirements. This position involves significant field work across the client's service territory.
Responsibilities:- Provide safety oversight on a particular project or projects
- Develop, foster, and maintain a culture where safety is the number one core commitment
- Ensure all project personnel are conducting work in a safe manner and in compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements
- Ensure contractor workers are conducting work in compliance with their company health and safety policies to include their site specific health and safety plan (HASP)
- Assist project personnel by interpreting and explaining existing regulations and requirements
- Review HASPs and job hazard analyses (JHA) to ensure they include all pertinent safety information based on the project scope of work
- Attend tailboards to receive and provide timely and applicable safety information
- Conduct documented job site observations of ongoing work to proactively identify safety issues and make on the spot corrections
- In the event of a project incident, work to make the site safe, report the incident, and participate in the investigation and corrective action process
- Lead or participate in meetings with key project personnel to discuss project safety performance
- Maintain effective communication and a positive working relationship with all project personnel
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, and/or emergency management technical area or equivalent electric and/or gas utility construction experience
- Safety professional experience or equivalent
- Relevant experience in the safety industry or large construction projects (buildings, facilities, electrical, etc)
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and environmental conditions
- Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively interact with peers and various levels of management
- Basic skills in Windows applications, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
- Ability to work independently and be prepared to work OT as needed, including possible weekend work
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and personal vehicle for commuting to and from jobsites
- BCSP CHST, USOLN CUSP, or similar professional safety certification
- CPR/First Aid training
Pay range: $43.99 - $53.99 per hour
