Jersey Shore University Medical Center, a premier academic medical center and state-designated Level I Trauma Center, is seeking a highly skilled and resilient Physician Assistant to join our Trauma Surgery team for the night shift. The successful candidate will be a critical member of our night crew, exercising significant autonomy while managing the complex, moment-to-moment needs of critically injured patients. As a Trauma Physician Assistant, you will work in close collaboration with our supervising trauma surgeons to provide comprehensive care.
Your primary responsibility will be the direct management of adult trauma patients, with dynamic exposure including occasional coverage in the operating room and for pediatric trauma patients.
- Conduct detailed histories, physical exams, and consultations for trauma patients in the ED, ICU, and inpatient units.
- Act as the first-line provider for post-operative and post-procedural patient management, making urgent clinical decisions under physician supervision.
- Confidently perform procedures such as IV placement, Foley and NG tube insertion, wound debridement, and venipuncture.
- Serve as a first or second assistant in the operating room for trauma-related surgical cases as needed.
- Write admission notes, daily progress notes, and post-operative orders. Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with regulations.
- Participate in research trials, contribute to the education of healthcare personnel, and serve as a clinical expert and patient advocate.
- Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and active New Jersey State Physician Assistant License.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Active NJ CDS and Federal DEA licenses.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
- ATLS certification.
- PALS certification is preferred.
Starting Minimum Salary: $ Annually
