We are looking forward to welcoming our incoming 6th-grade students at an orientation on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This event plays an important role in helping students transition smoothly into middle school and start the year feeling confident and connected. We are looking for staff members to assist with the orientation.

Job Description:

Jaguar Jump Start Facilitator

Purpose:

Support the successful transition of incoming students by providing a welcoming environment, sharing key information, and guiding them through engaging activities and discussions.

Responsibilities Include:

* Greet and welcome students and families upon arrival

* Facilitate small-group stations covering important middle school topics (see examples below)

* Provide building tours and help students locate key areas (classrooms, cafeteria, office, guidance, etc.)

* Assist with check-in, materials distribution, and crowd flow

* Encourage positive student interactions and help ease any nerves

* Be available to answer questions from both students and families

Orientation Station Topics May Include:

* Navigating the School Building

* Understanding Schedules and Lockers

* School Expectations and Behavior Norms

* Getting Involved:
Clubs, Sports, and Activities

* Time Management and Organization Skills

* Who to Go to for Help:
Counselors, Teachers, Staff

* Social Tips for Making Friends and Building Confidence

Staff members assisting with the orientation are expected to attend the entire event and will be compensated at the rate outlined in the ETEA contract.
