Physical Education Teacher
St. Thomas Aquinas High School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and student-centered Physical Education Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and engaging environment that promotes physical wellness, teamwork, leadership, healthy lifestyles, and personal growth.
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, collaboration, innovation in instruction, and the mission of Catholic education. The successful applicant will encourage students to develop lifelong habits centered around health, fitness, sportsmanship, and personal responsibility.
Responsibilities- Teach Physical Education courses at the high school level
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
- Promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and wellness education
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and activities to engage students
- Maintain a safe, positive, and structured learning environment
- Monitor and communicate student progress effectively
- Collaborate with faculty, counselors, coaches, and administration to support student success
- Participate in school activities, professional development, and school community initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Physical Education, Health, Exercise Science, Education, or related field strongly preferred
- Prior teaching or coaching experience is helpful but not required
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom-management skills
- Ability to motivate and support students of varying athletic and academic abilities
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and the STA community
$41,000-$44,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Background Check & Compliance RequirementsAll candidates must meet diocesan and state requirements for working in a Catholic school, including:
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Completion of Virtus/Protecting God’s Children training
- Submission of required employment and compliance documents, including I-9 forms, transcripts, and references
- Adherence to all school safety policies and guidelines
This is an in-person position mas Aquinas High School in Edison, New Jersey.
