Part-Time Non-Credit Instructor

The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department of Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach the following course:

• Mental Health Technician

Important:
Please note that a non-credit instructor is not an adjunct position. Successful candidates teach courses in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

The ability to teach 120 hours (3 days a week for 3 hours in hybrid format), which includes the following subject areas:

• Psychological Development at all Life Stages
• Disease Characteristics, Signs, and Symptoms
• Treatment and Intervention modalities
• Skills:
  
  assisting with daily living; attending to patient behavior problems; assistance in crisis intervention; group facilitation; patient education; recreational activities; personal hygiene; vital signs
• Ethical Conduct, Patient Rights, and Cultural Competency
• Preparing student for industry certification exam

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current registration as a NJ Licensed Registered Nurse
• Previous teaching experience
• Experience teaching adult learners
• Three (3) years of experience working in the Mental Health field
• Ability to teach in Edison, New Brunswick, or Perth Amboy
• Ability to teach in both in-person and virtual formats

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience teaching in higher education
• Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification
• Five (5) years of experience as In-patient mental health nurse
