Position: Associate Dean for Nursing Research and Graduate Department

The Associate Dean of Nursing Research and Graduate Department in the College of Nursing is a 12‑month full‑time administrative position that is appointed by the Dean with the approval of the Provost. The Associate Dean also holds academic rank and may teach a maximum of 3 credits per academic semester.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for oversight on all aspects of nursing research within the College of Nursing. Develops and facilitates faculty development in teaching, scholarship and service. Facilitates faculty development in research and grant writing. Enables and facilitates collaborative faculty scholarship. Oversight of faculty programs of research and scholarship. Facilitates faculty consultation with experts in research design, methodology, statistical analysis and dissemination. Facilitates the development of partnerships with clinical faculty, clinical facilities and interdisciplinary faculty to enable research partnerships.

Supports faculty in the submission of scholarly, databased peer‑reviewed journal articles and grant submissions. Responsible for the faculty scholarship database and compilation of all faculty outcomes.

Serve as the main administrative point of contact in the College of Nursing for all graduate student inquiries, graduate student applicants, enrolled graduate students, and alumni. Collaborating with the Office of Graduate Affairs and the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions to determine appropriate recruitment activity with the intention of recruiting and enrolling more graduate nursing students. Plan the graduate student schedule, including class size projections based on enrollment and admissions.

Assist in the planning and execution of graduate student immersion experiences. Ensure graduate student progression toward graduation in collaboration with the graduate department chair and the graduate program directors. Direct point of contact for students who have questions related to registration, graduation, and financial aid. Manage the College of Nursing admission materials and programs in the graduate instance of Slate in collaboration with the Office of Graduate Affairs.

Ensure programs and requirements are up to date.

In association with the Dean and the Associate Dean for Student Success and Assessment, directs and evaluates all accreditation activities including self‑study, accreditation and annual reports.

Serves as liaison to the Faculty Development Committee of the College of Nursing Faculty Assembly. Facilitates effective use of faculty sabbaticals. Maintains database of peer‑reviewed conferences for the effective dissemination of research. Develops and maintains a database for faculty scholarship. Serves as liaison to the library for continued development of the nursing collection.
