Director of Research Development

Hartmann Young is partnered with a fast-growing nutraceutical and dietary supplement manufacturer to appoint a Director of Research & Development. Relocation support is available.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and play a central role in shaping the company’s innovation, formulation strategy and product performance across a scaling supplement portfolio.

• Own the strategic R&D roadmap, aligning formulation, innovation and scientific priorities with business growth, customer needs and regulatory requirements
• Lead formulation and reformulation across the product portfolio, ensuring performance, manufacturability, margin, quality and compliance
• Act as the technical authority for formulation science, ingredient strategy and processing capabilities across the organisation
• Translate scientific research, supplier innovation and market insight into commercially viable supplement products
• Oversee pilot trials, scale-up and technology transfer into manufacturing, approving trial design for cost, quality and speed to market
• Deliver formulation costing, bid support and margin analysis for new product development
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Quality to support customer engagements, product samples and new business opportunities

• 7+ years’ experience in supplement development or a related regulated food, nutrition or life‑science environment
• Strong expertise in formulation science, ingredient functionality and manufacturing processes
• Experience working in GMP‑regulated environments with a clear understanding of regulatory and quality requirements
• Proven ability to translate technical insight into commercially successful products
• Hands‑on, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast‑growing, execution‑focused business
