About This RoleKey Energy Engineer performing decarbonization studies, energy audits, and retro-commissioning. This includes site field reviews, greenhouse gas and energy savings analysis, cost estimates, and report writing.
Key Responsibilities- Play a key role in performing energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1 through investment grade) for clients across commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education, and municipal/county government sectors.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of common and complex building systems.
- Identify and strategically recommend energy and carbon-reducing measures to meet client goals and objectives.
- Inventory greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and establish energy and GHG baselines; compare to local and industry thresholds.
- Perform calculations to quantify and report annual energy/cost savings and GHG reductions.
- Develop project cost estimates.
- Utilize calibrated testing equipment to perform hands-on retro-commissioning field-testing activities.
- Gain understanding of various system operating conditions through testing.
- Develop decarbonization and electrification strategic plans; evaluate new and innovative technology.
- Evaluate renewable and energy efficiency technologies including solar, wind, micro-cogeneration, geothermal, biomass, and thermal storage.
- Prepare technical reports for diverse audiences and participate in client-facing presentations to communicate solutions and roadmaps to implementation.
- Hone technical, communication, and leadership skills; coordinate with technical subject matter experts; schedule field engineers and track project budgets to achieve financial metrics.
- Foster positive business relationships internally and externally within the industry.
- Occasional out-of-state travel may be expected.
- 4+ years of experience working on energy, decarbonization and/or sustainability projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Working experience completing Energy Audits and/or Retro-commissioning projects.
- Degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC components, systems and distribution, and controls.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Excel, Word & PowerPoint; working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Completed or working toward PE certification.
- Completed or working toward CEM, CBCP, EBCP and/or other AEE certifications.
