Structural Engineer - Racking, Storage and ASRS
JBAndrews is partnering with a leading designer and manufacturer of structural steel storage systems to identify a Structural Engineer for its Standard Products engineering team.
This is an opportunity to join an established engineering group responsible for the structural design and analysis of heavy‑duty steel storage systems used across warehousing, distribution, cold storage and retail environments.
The RoleThe Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis and technical delivery of structural steel systems across projects typically valued between $1M and $10M.
Key responsibilities include:- Perform structural design and analysis calculations in accordance with AISC and relevant US building codes.
- Design and detail structural layouts, schematics and project proposals.
- Develop and modify engineering calculations and design spreadsheets for different steel storage configurations.
- Review component drawings and approve designs for fabrication.
- Prepare engineering drawings, sketches and technical documentation.
- Serve as Project Engineer and a technical point of contact for customers.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams.
- Support projects involving pallet rack, cantilever, drive‑in and push‑back storage systems.
- Conduct occasional site visits to verify field conditions and project measurements.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, ideally with a structural engineering focus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence.
- 5–15 years of structural engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel design and engineering principles.
- Experience with in industrial storage systems, steel racking or warehouse infrastructure.
- Experience designing in accordance with AISC, including Chapter C – Design for Stability.
- Experience with RISA, SCIA or equivalent finite element analysis software.
- Background within structural engineering, civil engineering, construction or steel structures.
- Ability to operate effectively within a fast‑paced, project‑driven engineering environment.
This role joins an established structural engineering team and offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging steel structures supporting major warehousing and distribution projects throughout the United States.
