Responsibilities
  • Basic design and implementation of low‑level circuit design with electrical isolation, microcontroller controls, and analog front‑end.
  • Circuit board layout with high‑impedance analog signals and creepage/clearances for high voltage.
  • Design to meet safety certification standards, such as UL.
  • Perform verification testing of electronics components and overall product designs.
  • Generate reports on design rationale, test methodologies, and results to support engineering reviews and product documentation.
  • Maintain project documentation and assist in creating operation manuals.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing teams and field operations on released products.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, production staff, and service personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Designing and validating electrical circuit boards, including hands‑on testing and performance evaluation.
  • Working in a lab environment and understanding how components fit into a larger system.
  • Working knowledge of embedded control systems and their applications.
  • Solid software development skills with C, C++ and optionally the Linux operating system.
  • Diagnose issues and implement design improvements for enhanced reliability and performance.
  • Familiarity with design for EMC and ability to trace down EMI issues.
  • Awareness of safety certification processes to standards such as UL.
  • Competent skills with communications protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN, I²C, and SPI; use of Modbus.
  • Capacity to select and integrate off‑the‑shelf components and equipment.
  • Strong cross‑discipline system skills and understanding of the hardware and physical system being controlled.
  • Basic knowledge of hazard and safety protocols of high‑voltage equipment and large‑scale battery systems.
  • Ability to self‑direct to a goal and achieve independent success.
  • Team‑player attitude with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
  • Additional experience in hardware design, debugging, and testing; PCB design; and designing electronics and automated controls.
  • Proficiency in EAGLE, IAR, or similar PCB design software.
  • Embedded programming, communication interfaces; I²C, RS-485, CAN bus communication, Modbus TCP, remote IO, or flex‑IO systems (Moxa, Allen Bradley, SEL, Advantech). PLC programming experience, GDB, or other debugging tools.
  • Linux and embedded systems experience.
  • High‑voltage electrical systems experience.
Travel and Working Conditions

Travel:
Overnight/North America travel less than 10%.

Office Environment – May require remaining in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasional movement to access file cabinets or office equipment; requires close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and visual inspection of small parts.

Factory/field – Worker may be exposed to hazards: moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, temperature changes, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. Noise level can be loud. Requires use of safety equipment such as eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May require exerting up to 25‑50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.
