Controller (Law Firm Experience Required)

Location: Edison, NJ (Onsite)

A well-established litigation law firm is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This role will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, billing, collections, payroll, trust accounting, and compliance while partnering closely with firm leadership on financial strategy and growth initiatives.

• Manage all accounting and finance functions, including month-end and year-end close.
• Oversee legal billing, collections, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and trust accounting (IOLTA).
• Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Monitor firm profitability and financial performance.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting and legal industry standards.
• Supervise accounting staff and coordinate with external accountants and auditors.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 3+ years of controller or senior accounting experience within a law firm required.
• Strong knowledge of legal accounting, trust accounting, and law firm financial operations.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

The base salary for this position is between $100,000 – $120,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
