Job DescriptionThe Retail Banker I is a customer liaison integral to delivering TD’s Brand promise. Utilizes financial expertise and consultative advice to assist customers with banking solutions and needs. Contributes to business objectives by identifying appropriate TD solutions that help customers achieve financial goals and strengthen their relationship with TD.
Depth & Scope- Proficient in products, services and routine transactions to identify opportunities to educate customers and refer to appropriate team members.
- Has broad knowledge of the full product suite, services and processes of the business area and manages low to moderate complexity and risk.
- Establishes and nurtures customer relationships by consistently displaying product knowledge, actively listening to customer needs and engaging in conversations to identify additional needs.
- Makes product recommendations based on customer needs, highlighting features and benefits that support customers through challenging times and life events.
- Utilizes customer relationship management tools to proactively assess customers and identify solutions, leading outbound sales activities.
- Independently resolves customer issues and escalates when necessary.
- Builds working relationships with customers and explains detailed or complicated information.
- Requires full proficiency gained through job‑related training to perform a range of activities.
- Participates in customer outreach, servicing and advice activities to deliver on our human‑first promise.
- Engages in conversations about loan products and facilitates application intake.
- Maintains an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).
- HS Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of experience working with customers or sales in any capacity, or equivalent through volunteering, education, or military experience.
- Teller experience preferred.
- Must complete teller training upon hire to take customer transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in customer conversations and educate on products and services.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills that are concise, clear, and consistent.
- Ability to schedule and prioritize work.
- Works independently and meets deadlines.
- Sound judgment and effective problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Notary license preferred.
- Delivers legendary experience by helping customers, building relationships, and providing service and advice.
- Supports the bank’s customer service strategy by delivering end‑to‑end advice through education, consultative support, and proactive insights.
- Acts as a customer advocate, improving financial confidence and providing resolution and proactive tips.
- Executes appropriate behaviors to deliver a legendary customer experience.
- Engages in lobby leadership, orchestrating customer flow and discovering initial needs.
- Educates customers on self‑service options that meet their preferences.
- Acts as a point of escalation for customer questions or concerns.
- Performs teller transactions, monitors fraud mitigation, and follows operational policies.
- Considers the impact of decisions on TD, the customer, and stakeholders.
- Acts as a brand champion internally and externally.
- Educates clients on self‑service channels, including digital options.
- Turns each banking transaction into a personalized interaction.
- Ensures compliance with operational guidelines and regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Participates in daily store operations aligned with TD’s risk framework.
- Understands and applies operating policies and procedures.
- Supports timely and accurate completion of business processes.
- Escalates non‑standard or high‑risk transactions as necessary.
