About the Firm

Our client is a well-established, 25-partner public accounting firm with an outstanding reputation across New Jersey. For decades, they have built long-term relationships with privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and real estate investors by delivering exceptional client service and trusted advisory solutions.

Due to continued growth and succession planning, the firm is seeking an experienced Tax Partner or Partner-track Tax Leader who is looking to build upon an established platform and play a key role in the future leadership of the firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys developing business, leading teams, and acting as a trusted advisor to clients.

The Opportunity

As a Tax Partner, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and real estate clients while driving business development initiatives and mentoring the next generation of tax professionals.

You'll have the autonomy to grow your practice, influence firm strategy, and contribute to a collaborative partnership group committed to long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Advisory & Technical Leadership
  • Lead as the advisor to high-net-worth individuals and privately held businesses.
  • Provide sophisticated tax planning and consulting services.
  • Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns for:
  • Partnerships (1065)
  • S Corporations
  • C Corporations
  • Trusts and Estates (preferred)
  • Advise clients on business structuring, succession planning, entity selection, acquisitions, and tax-efficient strategies.
  • Provide proactive year-round tax planning rather than compliance-only services.
  • Advise real estate developers, investors, and partnerships.
  • Review complex partnership allocations and ownership structures.
  • Provide planning around partnership transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings.
Business Development
  • Manage and continue growing a personal book of business in excess of $1M.
  • Develop new client relationships through networking and referrals.
  • Cross-sell accounting, advisory, audit, wealth management, and consulting services across the firm.
  • Represent the firm within the local business community and professional organisations.
Client Relationship Management
  • Build long-term trusted advisor relationships.
  • Deliver exceptional client service.
  • Lead complex client meetings.
  • Resolve technical tax issues and provide strategic guidance.
Leadership & Practice Development
  • Mentor, coach, and develop managers, seniors, and staff.
  • Review technical work and maintain quality standards.
  • Assist with recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Deliver internal technical training and contribute to the firm's professional development initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for investment referrals and collaborate with wealth management professionals where appropriate.
  • Work closely with clients to ensure coordinated tax and financial planning strategies.
What We're Looking For
  • CPA required.
  • 15+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Current Tax Partner, Principal, Director, or Senior Manager ready for Partnership.
  • Proven experience managing a book of business exceeding $1 million.
  • Strong background advising:
  • High-net-worth individuals
  • Privately held businesses
  • Extensive experience reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and expanding existing client relationships.
  • Experience mentoring and developing tax professionals.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Experience
  • Partnership taxation.
  • Multi-state taxation.
  • Family office or closely held business advisory.
