Responsibilities
  • Assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders in critical and non-critical settings, following physician prescriptions.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary evaluations, monitor respiratory therapy treatments, and educate patients and families.
  • Analyze and interpret data from physiological specimens, conduct diagnostic tests, and participate in research related to cardiopulmonary health.
  • Administer and monitor medical gases, mechanical ventilation, artificial airway care, and related therapies as prescribed.
  • Apply scientific principles to prevent, diagnose, and rehabilitate cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
  • Set up, verify, operate, and monitor respiratory equipment, documenting all procedures and patient responses in EPIC.
  • Manage patients on life support, adjusting treatments based on blood gas results and weaning protocols.
  • Respond to emergency and trauma codes promptly.
  • Supervise Certified Respiratory Care Technicians to ensure clinical compliance.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment, adhering to infection control policies.
  • Perform quality control on blood gas analyzers and manage respiratory supplies.
  • Clean, disinfect, and assemble respiratory equipment per infection control standards.
  • Assess patient needs and modify care to suit individual requirements, communicating effectively at their developmental level.
  • Physically lift up to 35 lbs., push/pull up to 165 lbs., and stand for at least 6 hours daily.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Skills: Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care program with an associate degree; comprehensive knowledge of clinical respiratory care.

Licenses & Certifications: NJ Respiratory Care Practitioner License, NJ Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate, AHA BLS Certification. Preferred: ACLS, NRP, PALS.
