Responsibilities
- Review and code patient records for both inpatients and outpatients
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
- Verify CPT-4 codes, DRGs, and APCs
- 1-3 years acute care coding experience
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Medical terminology proficiency
- Pathology of disease understanding
- Experience with ICD-10-CM coding
- Experience with ICD-10-PCS coding
- Experience with CPT-4 coding
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology
- Certifications:
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCA
Demonstrates expertise in coding patient records with a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding systems. Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, with a focus on acute care coding.
