Seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Risk Engineer with a strong background in healthcare risk management, supporting organizations such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), rehabilitation centers, and other long-term care providers. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients by identifying exposures, improving workplace safety, reducing claims, and strengthening overall risk management strategies. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong relationship-building skills to help healthcare organizations create safer environments while supporting long-term operational success.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site and virtual risk assessments for healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living communities, rehabilitation centers, and long-term care providers.
  • Identify operational, property, workers' compensation, professional liability, and general liability exposures.
  • Develop customized risk improvement recommendations to reduce claims frequency and severity.
  • Partner with producers, account management teams, carrier loss control representatives, and internal stakeholders to support new business opportunities and client retention.
  • Evaluate workplace safety programs, OSHA compliance, infection prevention procedures, emergency preparedness plans, and resident safety initiatives.
  • Review claims trends and loss data to identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost reduction.
  • Assist clients with implementing accident prevention strategies, employee training programs, return-to-work initiatives, and other risk mitigation best practices.
  • Stay current on healthcare regulations, CMS guidelines, OSHA standards, and emerging risks affecting senior care organizations.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Build strong relationships with healthcare executives, facility administrators, clinical leadership, and operations teams.
  • Support marketing and renewal efforts by demonstrating the value of risk management services.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance risk engineering, loss control, or healthcare risk management experience.
  • Experience supporting nursing homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), rehabilitation centers, or other long-term care organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including Property, General Liability, Professional Liability, Workers' Compensation, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella.
  • Experience conducting loss control surveys and developing actionable risk improvement plans.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, CMS standards, life safety requirements, infection prevention, and workplace safety programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to client locations as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and risk management reporting platforms.
  • Holds an active P&C (Property and Casualty) insurance license, or has the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or similar healthcare background transitioning into risk management
Compensation Package
  • Salary: $150,000+ annually, based on experience.
