Position Medical Science Liaison, Rheumatology
Location:
Field (MD, DC, DE, VA)
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with academic/community thought leaders, HCPs, and access stakeholders in assigned geography to address scientific, unsolicited product, and HEOR questions.
- Use appropriate channels (1:1, group presentations, remote, etc.) to present and discuss scientific information; respond to questions with medical accuracy and compliance.
- Assess the medical landscape with external stakeholders; continuously update knowledge of treatment strategies, products, unmet needs, clinical trials, and scientific activities.
- Understand competitive landscape and healthcare models; prepare to address customer information needs.
- Identify opportunities for partnerships on disease initiatives, collaborative research, and investigator-sponsored research (ISR) aligned with BMS objectives.
- Attend medical congresses/local meetings; collect and communicate meaningful medical insights to support strategy/business decisions.
- Develop geography-specific Field Medical and TL Interaction plans; contribute to cross-functional institution/account plans.
- Establish customer-centric, compliant collaboration with cross-matrix field teams; support internal training and provide scientific updates.
- Provide scientific support at promotional meetings; evaluate speakers and support BMS-contracted speakers (as applicable).
- Support clinical trial activities (interventional/non-interventional), including site feasibility/recruitment, ISR support, pharmacovigilance adherence, and CRO-sponsored studies.
- MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, NP with experience in a specific disease area or broad medical background and relevant pharmaceutical experience.
- Disease area knowledge and understanding of scientific publications; knowledge of clinical trial design/process; national healthcare/access environment; HEOR core concepts;
English proficiency (spoken/written).
- Minimum 2 years in clinical and/or pharmaceutical environment; prior MSL experience.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player; strong communication/presentation; ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships; fast learning.
- Demonstration of BMS values.
- Ability to drive a company-provided car; safe driving history.
- Travel required; field-based role—live in the territory (or within 50 miles of its borders).
- Field (US): $166,090–$201,262 starting range (FTE); additional incentive cash/stock may be available (eligibility-based). Benefits may include health coverage, wellbeing programs, 401(k), disability/life insurance, and PTO.
