Job Description & How to Apply Below

Housekeeping & Facility Cleanliness

  • Maintain the entire facility in a spotless, guest-ready condition at all times, including lobbies, reception, locker rooms, showers, saunas, pools and water areas, relaxation lounges, treatment rooms, dining and lounge spaces, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and entryways.
  • Treat anything visible or accessible to a guest as a priority: fingerprints, streaks, spills, clutter, and odors must be addressed immediately and proactively, not on a fixed schedule.
  • Conduct a thorough deep cleaning of the facility at least once per week, covering areas not reached in daily cleaning — grout, drains, vents, high and low surfaces, fixtures, tile, glass, and sauna interiors.
  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists and SOPs, and document completion for accountability.
  • Perform and log routine walkthroughs and inspections throughout the day to verify standards and catch issues before guests do.
  • Manage sanitation and disinfection protocols for high-touch and wet areas in line with public-health and spa-hygiene standards.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and consumables (e.g., amenities, paper goods); reorder to avoid stockouts while controlling cost.
  • Ensure safe handling, labeling, and storage of cleaning chemicals, including maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and proper PPE use.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to report and follow up on repairs, damage, or hazards identified during cleaning.
  • Supervise, schedule, and support housekeeping staff; assign zones, verify quality, and provide coaching and feedback.

Laundry Operations

  • Ensure all laundry and textiles — towels, robes, linens, sheets, slippers, wraps, and cloths — are collected, laundered, and returned to service on a daily basis with none left unaccounted for.
  • Maintain an accurate par-level inventory of all textiles; track counts, monitor loss and shrinkage, and reorder replacements before shortages affect service.
  • Follow proper wash protocols by textile type — correct temperatures, detergents, sanitizing cycles, and drying — to meet hygiene standards and protect fabric life.
  • Separate, handle, and launder soiled and potentially contaminated textiles safely, meeting sanitation and health-code requirements for a spa environment.
  • Inspect textiles for stains, tears, and wear; remove damaged items from rotation and manage repair or disposal.
  • Keep clean and soiled linen fully separated in storage and transport to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Maintain, clean, and schedule preventive service for washers, dryers, and related equipment; report malfunctions to Maintenance promptly.
  • Manage relationships with any outside linen or laundry vendors, verify deliveries against counts, and monitor quality and cost.
  • Keep the laundry area clean, organized, safe, and compliant with fire and ventilation standards (e.g., routine lint and duct cleaning).
Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Minimum of three to five years experience in housekeeping, custodial, or facilities experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Working knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, chemical safety (SDS/PPE), and sanitation standards for wet, high-touch, or public environments.
  • Experience managing supply inventory, par levels, and reordering within a budget.
  • Ability to build and enforce checklists, SOPs, and inspection routines, and to document completion for accountability.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
  • Reliable availability for weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.

Our Preference

  • Preferred experience in a spa, hotel, gym, pool, or other hospitality/wellness facility.
  • Commercial laundry experience, including wash protocols by textile type and equipment upkeep.
  • Familiarity with local public-health and fire/ventilation code requirements for spa or pool facilities.
  • Bilingual (English plus Korean, Spanish, or another language common to the team) is a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (e.g., linen carts, supply cases, equipment) with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Comfort working in warm, humid, and wet environments including saunas, showers, and pool areas.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and laundry equipment; consistent use of required PPE.
  • Repetitive tasks such as wiping, mopping, folding, and loading/unloading laundry.
  • Availability for early-morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on operational needs.
Guest Experience Standard

Cleanliness is central to how guests judge Island Spa & Sauna. Every standard in this role exists to protect the guest experience: a spotless, fresh-smelling facility and an uninterrupted supply of clean linens directly shape whether guests feel cared for, return, and recommend us. The Housekeeping & Laundry Manager is expected to hold this standard consistently and to elevate anything that could compromise it.
