Req . NTT DATA is seeking a Desktop Support Technician in Edison, NJ (may also be required to work in Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, or Belle Meade). The role includes rotating on‑call/holiday shifts and occasional weekend support, requires the employee to receive a flu vaccination as required by law, and requires onsite presence at the client’s facility.
Job Responsibilities- Perform moderate‑to‑complicated configuration and repair of desktop/notebook computers and connected peripherals.
- Low‑to‑moderate installation of IP phone handsets, including network drops.
- Provide customer service to a large end‑user base on‑site via in‑person, phone, e‑mail, and video conferences.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by advising on preventive maintenance and configuration changes that may impact performance.
- Diagnose and resolve product performance problems using advanced tools and technical knowledge, including issues caused by firewall, proxy, or anti‑virus software.
- Perform break/fix troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repair on desktops, notebooks, printers, and attached peripherals.
- IMAC (install, maintain, configure) of desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Manage tickets and workload using the customer’s ticketing system.
- Physically lift and move hardware as required.
- Primary location:
Edison, NJ (may also involve Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, or Belle Meade). - Work onsite daily at the client’s facility.
- Includes on‑call/holiday rotations and occasional weekend support.
- At least 5+ years of desktop support experience, including hands‑on experience with workstation hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
- Hands‑on experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, antivirus programs, and web browsers.
- Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office, Google Workspace, Chrome
OS, iOS, and Citrix client. - Motivated technician with proven troubleshooting skills.
- Proven customer‑service skills with effective communication over phone, in‑person, and e‑mail.
- Ability to multi‑task and work in a dynamic, fast‑paced team environment.
- Familiarity with workgroup and domain environments and Active Directory computer management.
- Experience with Windows
10, Chrome
OS, cloud‑ready deployments, imaging, and software push using Ivanti LANDesk. - Experience working with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve vendor‑supported applications and hardware.
- Smart‑hands support for outages and major incidents, following directions from advanced support towers (e.g., Epic, Citrix, Network, Server, Cyber, Enterprise applications).
- Break‑fix/installation of thin clients, mobility devices, desktops/laptops, Chrome devices, and peripherals such as signature pads, scanners, and credit‑card machines.
