Job Overview

IT Program Manager to lead the successful integration of IT systems and infrastructure to support a major healthcare provider acquisition. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare IT, with specific experience in managing complex integration projects resulting from mergers and acquisitions.

The IT Program Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and successful delivery of all IT integration activities related to the acquisition of a healthcare provider organization. This individual will serve as the central point of contact for all IT-related work streams, ensuring a seamless transition while minimizing disruption to clinical and business operations. The Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating the integration of electronic health record (EHR) systems, clinical and business applications, and underlying IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, guide, and coordinate a comprehensive IT integration strategy and roadmap, encompassing all phases of the acquisition from due diligence to post-merger stabilization.
  • Lead and coordinate the activities of cross‑functional IT teams, including infrastructure, applications, data management, and cybersecurity.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to domain‑specific IT project managers responsible for individual work streams (e.g., EHR integration, network infrastructure, application rationalization).
  • Oversee the complex process of data migration from the acquired entity's systems, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of all patient and business data.
  • Manage the integration of disparate electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, addressing challenges of system compatibility and workflow disruption.
  • Develop and manage the program budget, tracking all time and materials expenses to ensure the project remains within financial constraints.
  • Create and maintain a detailed project plan, identifying key milestones, dependencies, and critical paths.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, clinical leadership, and executive stakeholders, providing regular and transparent updates on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Proactively identify and manage program risks, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to avoid delays and cost overruns.
  • Ensure all IT integration activities are conducted in strict compliance with healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Facilitate change management and communication efforts to ensure a smooth transition for all end‑users and minimize disruption to patient care and daily workflows.
  • Manage relationships with third‑party vendors and consultants engaged to support the integration effort.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in IT program management, with a proven track record of successfully leading large‑scale, complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing IT integration projects as part of a merger or acquisition, preferably within the healthcare sector.
  • In‑depth knowledge of healthcare IT systems, including electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems, practice management systems, and other clinical and business applications.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and best practices related to data migration and systems integration in a healthcare environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, particularly HIPAA.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • PMP, PgMP, or other relevant project management certification is highly desirable.
