Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join our team in Edison, NJ, United States. The role involves performing various managed client services for a strategic customer, including IMAC, break/fix, desk side support, and ensuring high‑level customer service. The technician may need to work at multiple client sites (Edison, Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, Belle Meade) and provide rotating on‑call, holiday, and occasional weekend support.
The position requires daily onsite attendance and a valid flu vaccination as required by law.
- Perform moderate‑to‑complicated configuration and repair of desktop and notebook computer equipment and connected peripherals, including low‑to‑moderate installation of IP phone handsets and network drops, and moderate troubleshooting of technical issues.
- Provide customer service to a large end‑user base onsite at the customer’s location, including in‑person, phone, email, and video conference support.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by advising on preventive maintenance and configurations that may impact product performance.
- Diagnose and resolve product performance problems using advanced tools and technical knowledge, including identifying issues caused by firewall, proxy, or anti‑virus software.
- Perform break/fix hardware and software troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repair on desktops, notebooks, printers, and attached peripherals.
- Install and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and attached peripherals for IMAC projects, including hardware, software, and consumables.
- Manage tickets and workload using the customer‑provided ticketing system.
- Physically lift and move hardware as required.
- At least 1+ years of desktop support experience.
- Hands‑on experience with workstation hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
- Hands‑on experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, antivirus programs, and browsers.
- Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office, Google Workspace, ChromeOS, iOS, and Citrix client.
- Motivated technician with proven troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient customer service skills and effective communication over phone, in person, and email.
- Ability to multi‑task and work in a dynamic, fast‑paced team environment.
- Familiarity with workgroup and domain environments.
- Experience with Windows 10, ChromeOS, and Cloud Ready deployments.
- Active Directory computer management.
- Imaging and software push using Ivanti LANDesk.
- Vendor liaison experience for troubleshooting and resolving vendor‑supported applications and hardware.
- On‑site “smart hands” support for outages and major incidents, following directions from advanced support towers (Epic, Citrix, Network, Server, Cyber, Enterprise applications).
- Break‑fix and install thin clients, mobility devices, desktops, laptops, Chrome devices, and peripherals (signature pads, scanners, credit card machines).
The starting pay range for this role is $27/hr – $33.42/hr compensation may vary based on experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
