Database Developer Tech Lead

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to lead technical guidance, design and optimize database systems, and manage Azure SQL database environments within Holman.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the database development team.
• Design, develop, and optimize database systems to meet business requirements.
• Recommend improvements to database architecture and design for scalability, availability, and security.
• Collaborate with Dev Ops to automate database deployments and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems and processes.
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies, implement improvements, and support innovation.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Work closely with software developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to integrate database solutions with applications.
• Perform code reviews, database deployments, and optimize queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
• Develop complex SQL queries and perform data modeling, designing schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships for transactional and analytical use cases.
• Provide troubleshooting support for database-related issues and work with application developers to ensure efficient data flow.
• Configure and manage Azure Databases, including automated backups, replication, high‑availability options, encryption, access controls, and auditing.
• Implement disaster recovery strategies, including point‑in‑time restore and geo‑replication for Azure SQL Database.
• Stay current with Azure database services and industry trends, incorporating new features and best practices.
• Provide off‑hours support and on‑site disaster recovery assistance as required.
• Perform any other duties and special projects as assigned.

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Experience with relational architecture, data warehousing, and at least 3 years of installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle and/or SQL Server environments.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database environments and the Azure ecosystem (Blob Storage, Data Lake, Key Vault, etc.).
• Proficient in installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and SQL statement tuning.
• Experience with ETL tools for data movement and documentation.
• Working knowledge of Linux operating systems, shell scripting, Windows Server, and automation tools (Azure Dev Ops, Power Shell, ARM templates, IaC).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience; additional education or certifications are a plus.
• Azure AZ900, DP900, DP‑300 training required;
  Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Must be able to work remotely or travel to Holman locations as needed.

• Competitive salary range: $105,050 – $149,700 annually.
