Opportunity
:
Spectrum Chemical is seeking a dynamic Continuous Improvement Black Belt for our New Brunswick, NJ facility. The Continuous Improvement Black Belt is responsible for leading and managing successful Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, as well as providing guidance, expertise and oversight for critical and cross-functional process improvement projects. This includes ensuring that both the technical and people aspects are taken into account in the project and change management strategies.
- Lead and drive Continuous Improvement projects and activities to meet operational objectives, including cost improvement projects and value stream improvements.
- Execute CI by defining improvement goals; establish accountability through metrics; use Lean/Six Sigma tools/techniques to improve processes/business results.
- Promote use of Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools (DMAIC, Lean, Kaizen, Supplier, and Design for Six Sigma).
- Analyze, map, improve and monitor priority processes.
- Spearhead and/or lead improvement projects.
- Plan, oversee and lead both CI and non-CI projects from ideation through to completion, interacting with a range of stakeholders and managing several projects simultaneously.
- Facilitate and document process mapping of critical processes.
- Provide leadership with a Lean/Six Sigma focus to drive CI methods/tools within value streams.
- Provide direct and/or indirect leadership by leading, managing and coaching team members to drive CI.
- Lead/develop a vision and strategy for process improvement via Lean and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Solve complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of factors.
- Perform capability and other statistical assessments with follow-up work to reduce variability and achieve targets.
- Facilitate the definition of project charter including scope, objectives, resources and timeline with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress of priority and cross-functional projects.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Measure, track and report project performance using appropriate tools.
- Manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of projects.
- Ensure appropriate change management is built into all projects.
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but requires influencing and leading cross-functional CI and project teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related scientific field;
Master’s Degree preferred. - PMP certification preferred.
- 8–10 years’ experience facilitating, coaching and implementing CI, Lean/Six Sigma events and driving major lean transformations with proven results in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
- Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements that significantly improve operational efficiencies.
- Demonstrated success implementing Lean/Six Sigma principles.
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts and Lean manufacturing techniques, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven project management skills and ability to influence without direct authority.
- Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
- Experience with cGMP and FDA manufacturing is a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, technical drawings, procedures and regulations; able to present technical information and respond to questions from various department managers.
- Strong data analysis skills and mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to handle multiple priority tasks while meeting business requirements.
