About this Role

The Growth Manager for Africa will spearhead Taptap Send’s expansion efforts within the US-Africa remittance corridor. This role is pivotal in crafting and executing growth strategies aimed at both acquiring and retaining customers from African diaspora communities throughout the United States. The Growth Manager will engage directly with the communities, conduct critical customer research, and develop partnerships and campaigns tailored to these groups.

Working closely with marketing and operational teams, the role involves overseeing advertising initiatives, collaborating with community ambassadors, and optimizing operational efficiencies. The position’s ultimate goal is to drive growth strategies that resonate with diaspora communities, thereby enhancing Taptap Send’s impact.

Responsibilities
  • Build trust-based relationships with African diaspora communities through in-person and online communications.
  • Conduct customer research with transfer senders on a regular basis across priority corridors.
  • Initiate, negotiate, and build partnerships with community associations and organizations representing African diaspora groups.
  • Set up offline and online advertising campaigns tailored to specific country communities.
  • Source and lead community ambassadors, champions, and influencers across African diaspora networks.
  • Manage agencies for Paid, Creatives, and Events.
  • Manage customers’ CRM, segmented by corridor and community.
  • Optimize Operations with help from Product, Ops, Eng and Support teams.
  • Deep dive into customer pain points by corridor and work with the different teams as well as the Africa Corridor Lead to solve them.
  • Travel across US states to connect with and better understand African diaspora communities and grow our customer base.
  • Dedicate part of your time to call customers and respond to messages/comments across our owned media channels.
  • Work with the Head of Africa to outline the growth plan for each market, including the growth strategy, monthly budget, targets, CAC, and CRM campaigns.
Requirements
  • Based in New York or New Jersey.
  • 4-5 years of experience in a high-growth environment such as startups, marketing, or fintechs.
  • Exceptional knowledge and networks among African diaspora communities across the US, with depth in at least 2-3 key corridors (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia).
  • Strong business development/sales/marketing/analytical background.
  • Experience with organic and inorganic marketing activities.
  • Having contacts with African influencers and celebrities in the US is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage authentically across diverse African communities.
  • Passion for working with and for migrant communities.
  • Resourceful with the ability to get things done - doing more with less.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in African languages is a strong plus.
