Seeking an experienced Director of Media & Communications to lead earned media and public relations strategy for a leading professional services organization. This role will increase visibility for attorneys, practice groups, leadership, and key initiatives through strategic media relationships, thought leadership, and reputation management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute firm-wide PR and earned media strategy.
- Build relationships with legal, business, regional, and industry journalists.
- Secure interviews, articles, podcasts, commentary, and thought leadership placements.
- Identify timely media opportunities based on news and industry trends.
- Manage media inquiries and prepare executives/attorneys for interviews.
- Draft media pitches, statements, talking points, and external communications.
- Support awards, rankings, nominations, and recognition submissions.
- Develop visibility strategies for practice groups, lateral hires, major matters, and firm initiatives.
- Advise leadership on reputation management and crisis communications.
- Track media placements and measure PR performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in PR, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
- 7+ years of PR, media relations, or strategic communications experience.
- Law firm, legal PR agency, or professional services experience required.
- Established relationships with legal, business, and industry media.
- Proven success securing earned media and thought leadership opportunities.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and communication skills.
- Strong executive presence and ability to work with attorneys and senior leadership.
- Ability to translate complex legal/business topics into compelling media narratives.
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
$140K–$160K base salary, plus potential year-end bonus and merit increase. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life/disability insurance, 401(k), PTO, and additional voluntary programs.
