Position Summary
The DVRT Coordinator is responsible for managing volunteer staff and interns to provide 24‑hour accompaniments and advocacy services to victims/survivors of domestic violence. The DVRT Coordinator reports directly to the Program Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide training and education to new and existing volunteers and staff and in‑service trainings to law enforcement
- Supervise and manage volunteers and interns to ensure quality domestic violence services are provided to victims/survivors
- Ensure the hotline schedule is covered by calling volunteers and soliciting their services to assist domestic violence victims/survivors
- Provide 24‑hour backup for hotline calls & accompaniments to address problems with activations
- Address concerns with Unusual Occurrences for DVRT
- Market SERV program and volunteer opportunities throughout Cumberland County
- Facilitate quarterly Domestic Violence Liaison Officer Meetings and monthly Volunteer meetings
- Develop quarterly newsletter and monthly meetings and trainings for volunteers and staff
- Interview potential volunteers, complete reference checks on volunteers, maintain volunteer files and submit volunteer stipend to finance
- Collect activation statistics and complete reports for required funding sources
- Complete program statistics forms pertaining to volunteer hours and services provided to victims/survivors for advocate certification
- Attend County DV Working Group meetings, NJCEDV meetings, and DVRT Coordinator meetings
- Revise and update the volunteer handbook, resource manual, and training manual
- Carry out other tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor to ensure the success of SERV program
- Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program
- The DVRT Coordinator must successfully complete 40 hours of the New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocacy Training and 40 hours of the Domestic Violence Response Training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV)
- The DVRT Coordinator must have experience working with people, especially on a one‑to‑one basis, demonstrate sensitivity toward the needs of victims/survivors, and be able to provide training and education to new and existing volunteers and staff
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking are required
- Evidence of a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or Human Services is mandatory
- Experience in supervision or management is preferred
