Childhood Cancer Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing financial and emotional support to families battling pediatric cancer. Through fundraising initiatives, wish grants, and special experiences, we work to create meaningful moments for children and families while helping alleviate some of the challenges associated with a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

About the Event

Childhood Cancer Society is seeking an experienced, engaging, and polished Charity Event Auctioneer for an upcoming benefit dinner hosted in collaboration with the Mayor and First Lady of Saddle River, New Jersey at Ridgewood Country Club.

The evening will bring together an influential audience of community leaders, business executives, philanthropists, and supporters. A centerpiece of the evening will be a live auction featuring premium items, luxury experiences, travel opportunities, and other high-value packages, with proceeds supporting Childhood Cancer Society’s mission.

The ideal candidate will know how to create excitement, connect with an upscale donor audience, and strategically encourage competitive bidding while keeping the focus on the charitable impact of the evening.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and facilitate the live auction during the benefit dinner
  • Present auction packages in a compelling, energetic, and professional manner
  • Encourage competitive bidding and help maximize fundraising revenue for Childhood Cancer Society
  • Engage and interact confidently with donors and guests throughout the auction
  • Maintain the appropriate balance of energy, humor, professionalism, and sensitivity for a charitable event
  • Familiarize yourself with featured auction items, experiences, sponsors, and key messaging prior to the event
  • Collaborate with Childhood Cancer Society leadership, event organizers, AV staff, and the evening’s program team
  • Help connect auction giving opportunities to the mission and impact of Childhood Cancer Society
  • Keep the auction moving efficiently while recognizing bidding activity throughout the room
  • Participate in a pre-event briefing or run-through with the event team
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a professional auctioneer, benefit auctioneer, fundraising auctioneer, or live event host strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience engaging audiences in a live event environment
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation abilities
  • Comfortable interacting with executives, philanthropists, community leaders, and high-level donors
  • Ability to think quickly and adapt to bidding activity and audience response in real time
  • Professional, polished, and reliable demeanor
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with event producers and nonprofit leadership
  • Must be available to attend the event in person at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey
  • Experience with nonprofit galas, charity auctions, luxury events, or high-end hospitality is a plus
